Question

Help answer this question below.

I got a new monitor for my computer and my computer doesn't seem to have the correct setting for the screen area. The largest resolution is 1152x864, but it should be set at 1440x900. It's a problem because everything is stretched out. What can I do?

I'm just grasping at straws here, so forgive me if I'm suggesting stuff you already considered.

Often, people use their video adapters with default Windows drivers instead of drivers provided by the manufacturer for that particular model of adapter. You may be missing the needed resolution in this case.

But as others have said, it is possible that your adapter doesn't support the monitor's native resolution. The way to know for sure is to find out what brand / model of video adapter you have and research what resolutions it supports.

If after research you determine that the resolution is not possible, then you'll need a better / newer video adapter to get the resolution you want.

Refund the monitor for one more suitable.
