ogolets/agalets- оголец means a small fish.

So the name could mean "son of a small fish."

“Ov”, “off”, “in” and “ev” at the end of a Russian surname indicate the surname means “son of ____" (whatever). It should also be noted that “off” is often the “English” version of “ov.”

The problem with some of these names is that it is hard to tell whether or not the name is literal (it means, literally, "son of a small fish") or not (it means son of a guy named "Agalts")

Or the name might have Arabic roots, as names beginning with ara, ata and aga are often Arabic. That would indicate that the name came from somewhere like Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and the like.
