It was first mass produced in Europe to enable soldiers to fight harder and faster with almost no pain from what I've been told, but now it has no actual medicinal purpose, except to have a dangerous high. If taken enough, the chemicals in it can actually eat little pin sized holes in your brain.... It's useless, and destructive as well as addictive.

As far as I understand, though Im happy to be corrected if wrong, pure ectasy is MDMA which is relatively harmless without alcohol. The main problems are when it is mixed with amphetamines, ketamine, and other harmful adulterants. Addiction is psychological, not physical if pure MDMA is involved, otherwise there could be physical addiction to amphetamines.

Like with all the other addictive drugs, some people will pay anything to feel good, and others will make any kind of poison as long as there are people willing to pay a lot of money for that poison. It is the basic offer/demand process, but this time involves stupidity and crime.

It has a psychiatric purpose. It shortens the time it takes for victims of crime to recuperate. The therapy that could take years can be over in a matter of days.

Some drugs were discovered by accident. Read below: MDMA was patented as long ago as 1913 by the German company Merck. Rumour has it that the drug was sold as a slimming pill along with comic descriptions of its strange side effects, although it was never marketed and the patent doesn't mention uses. The next time it came to light was in 1953 when the US army tested a number of drugs for military applications - again, folklore says it was tried as a truth drug but there is no evidence for this. The father of MDMA - or 'stepfather' as he describes himself - is Alexander ShulginEventually his company was embarrassed to find themselves holding the patents of some popular street drugs and he was politely given the push. Shulgin continued testing new compounds on himself and a select group of friends for many years. Thanks to his remarkable personality - combining openness without proselytising about his liberal and controversial views - he has earned the respect of influential people and is able to carry on with his research today, with the full approval of the US government. His approach to psychedelics is similar to that of a botanist: he specialises in the phenethylamines, and delights in recording the subtle differences between each member of that family of drugs. His experiences are described in his autobiography Phenethylamines I Have Known And Loved. MDMA is but one of 179 psychoactive drugs which he describes in detail, and, although its effects are less dramatic than many, MDMA is perhaps the one which comes closest to fulfilling his ambition of finding a therapeutic drug. http://ecstasy.org/books/e4x/e4x.ch.03.html

You hit the nail on the head with this one. The only reason to make a drug like this is to make a bunch of addicts who make drug dealers rich. And damn who it destroys in it's wake.

in england last year death toll from alcohol was 13 people/day and only 10 people/year from ecstacy. The statistics show also that around 12 people/day seeked medical help for stabbing wounds. So it is greater chance that you will be stabbed or die from alcohol poisoning then from ecstacy ... in england

Exctasy was orginally used by pyschologist. The pure form of extasy is made completely of a substance known as MDMA. Extasy on the streets is made for profit only. The reason extasy is dangerous is because it is cut with many other drugs such a cocaine, heroine, and meth. The cocktail of these drugs can be damaging.

Ecstasy is not that addicting, or damaging. In fact, only 10 deaths a year are reported from the use of E alone, and 100 are reported with E in general. As long as E is taken at a reasonible amount (once, maybe twice a month) Addiction is very unlikely, and as long as you don't drink alcohol, it won't damage your body horribly. But once you enter the region of taking it once a week or more, that's when addiction and damage occurs.

Many things are made and causes many damages. It's popular today for many personal reasons such as to relieve your stress. Because of the great demands for them, many people would start supplying, therefore making $$. Chemicals in extacy today may or may not contain addicting drugs such as ice. But addiction is mainly a low will-power that you personally have. You can choose to advoid it or take it to experience the high, but be alert for the health-risking concequences!

Some people are willing to accept the damaging side effects in exchange for the learning experience and positive effect that ecstacy has to offer. The same thing goes for alcohol which is comparitively damaging to the body.

am not sure if ya can get adicticted to cowies but like anthything if theres a demand theres a seller

ecstasy isnt has damaging has you might think. infact ecstasy is much more safer than cannabis, tobacco and alchol. poeple who have died from e's is very low and the small number that it has happened to have usually substituted water for alchol and then they drink to much and when over intoxicated on e's the brain becomes unstable. im not saying go out and take ecstasy cause all drugs have dangers even pain killers are dangerous. also drug dealers mix things into pills so you are not always sure what your getting. but if its pure mdma (ecstasy) then there isnt to much damage being done. ofcourse longterm usage is dangerous like all drugs moderation is the key. also mdma is not addictive. check out mdma on wikipedia and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR3gIuWYnQo&feature=related

It's the same reason why drugs are made, illegal or not. Anything that is addictive is made for money, and if it is illegal to produce and sell, it is worth a lot of money. Some people may just want to screw other's futures, but most of them do it for the money.
