What would a fine artist major and minor in?

    I am double majoring in Fine Arts and History. You could minor in history too; or education, marketing, business, physics, what ever floats your boat.

    It depends on it you are an artist wanting to create art, or if you are wanting to study music or art to later perform or teach them.

    If you want to create art, you'd take studio art, design, painting, drawing and classes like that.

    If you want to teach art: Same things as above, plus art education, teaching classes, art history, etc. you have to throw in the teaching things heavily as well as the basic art.

    If you want to perform or teach music: Music theory, orchestra - symphony music and composition, piano or another instrument if you excel in one, teaching classes again as above, and on and on.

    As minors, you could pick something complimentary to music such as a foreign language like Italian, German or French, since many operas and classical music is written and sung in these languages.

    You could also pick something like English, speech, art therapy, or music interpretation, drama classes, etc. to give yourself some knowledge or background in those areas which can come into play if you decide to teach or perform.

    i majored in Fine Arts and minored in Art History, then took additional classes in education to get teacher certification.
