  • It's Armenian and means "son of Ad." (-yan is a sure sign it's Armenian). I also read here: http://www.islamic-dictionary.com/index.php?word=adyan that Adyan "is the plural of deen (religion)" in Arabic. But it probably is Armenian like I stated above.
  • Interesting. Only reference to this name I can find in a very short search is arabic. The meaning is given as - "A Nabee Was Named By This Name." A nice definition of 'Nabee' is found on Wiki - "The Qur'an identifies a number of men as Prophets of Islam (Arabic: nabee نبي‎; pl. anbiyaa أنبياء ). Muslims believe such individuals were assigned a special mission by God to guide humanity. Besides Muhammad, this includes Tanakh prophets such as Moses and David, and Jesus from the Christian religion." Quite something to live up to!
