  • G'day Washu-Chan, Thank you for your question. In the US Air Force Master Sergeant is the seventh most senior grade and is the first entry into the senior non-commissioned ranks. At that level, you are expected to start focussing on leadership and management issues rather than just technical issues. In the Army, master sergeant is above a first sergeant or a sergeant position. If the ranks within ROTC are equivalent to the services, your rank is superior to his. I attach sources for your reference. • no offense, but shouldn't you know that or know where to look for that seeing that not only are you an e-7, and have had several leadership schools where this was taught, but you also teach rotc. things really must have went downhill in the short time since i got out in 92. even in air force basic training in 86 we had to learn the other branches rank structure and in leadership school (the only one i went to) for e-4 it was taught yet again. i know for a fact it was taught on other occasions because my dad was an e-8 when he got out. it's also sometimes on the tests for rank. to be honest, i'm dumbstruck that you would ask that on here...
