What is the meaning and origin of the Russian surname "Abulkhanov"?

    It has Arabic/Turkish roots. "Abul khan" means "servant king [or ruler, or prince, et cetera])". Abul also means abdul, which means "servant." "Khan means king."

    “Ov”, “off”, “in” and “ev” at the end of a Russian surname indicate the surname means “son of ____” (whatever). It should also be noted that “off” is often the “English” version of “ov.” It is also used by Russians to make their name sound more aristocratic.
