  • What makes you think they have?
  • They haven't. Evolution is a slow process. So slow, that it is too slow to observe.
  • I love people that use this as an argument against evolution. It is argogant of man to put limitations on their God. Shame on them and you
  • because have you seen a monkey evolve lately
  • The theory of evolution does not simply state that we "Evolved from Monkeys", it states more specifically that we are closely *Related* to monkeys. Simians are no less evolved than humans, they are still evolving, just as we humans are, they've just adapted differently because of their different environment and life-style. We evolved *Alongside* monkeys, from a common root, the monkeys that exist today are not the same types of primates that we would have evolved from, they are (Just as we are) more evolved and advanced decendants of those primates.
  • Evolution didn't stop the day that humanity took its first breath. Specialization in all organisms affixes their genetics into the specific needs of their environment. You don't see Chimpanzees evolving because their environment is not changing in such a way as to demand it of them; adaptation is a response to change - typically over the course of many generations though possibly quite quickly. You see Evolution in action by observing the profusion of life that exists in limited scope; fitting like jigsaw pieces in harmonious competition. Check out the dozens of species of Birds of Paradise. If a scientist observed evolution, most likely they would simply mistake the creature as a "New and Rare" species. I remember a story of the first ever hybrid Grizzly / Polar Bear. It was an adaptation that would have been a perfect way for Polar Bears to ease their genetics into a new range of territory through a mixture of instincts as the arctic sea ice continues to degrade. Unfortunately, it was shot and killed by sportsman. Go figure.
  • Evolution doesn't say that man evolved from monkeys, people who are against evolution say that to discredit it. Humans evolved from a common ancestor. Also, who ever said that monkeys stopped evolving? Do you expect evolution in monkeys to happen overnight?
  • Evolution as has been taught is a lie and is not perpetual but the culmination over time of selected traits. The end result being an organism different from what was at its beginning. Monkeys will continue to be monkeys until selected to be something else.
  • And the winner of the uneducated redneck trying to debate against evolution goes to... akinswr#8! The theory of evolution does not state that we evolved from monkey's. Doh!
  • Ok, people ... this is ridiculous! The question sets up what is called a "straw man" ( a claim that evolution states that people evolved from monkeys, which is patently untrue ). The question then attacks its own straw man by asking why monkeys have stopped evolving ( another misleading statement, since it's impossible to prove that monkeys have ceased to evolve ). It's things like this that give all of Christianity a bad name. If you want to attack evolution, at least make the effort to learn about it first, and then be logical in your attack. Sigh!
  • Firstly we did not evolve from monkeys. Secondly, at some point in the past, what we now call monkeys and humans were one in the same. At some point some of these creatures went one way and became humans some of the others went a different way and became what we now call monkeys, even other groups went different ways and evolved into different things. Evolution is a long and complicated theory.
