  • You become worm food!
  • Death is it. That's what I suspect anyway. My concious being will cease to be. Not even enough left to remember that I once was... It's not like I think "Wheee! That's great!" - but it does remind me to suck dry every day I get.
  • Being an atheist does not mean we all share the same spiritual views on life an death. Some believe nothing others believe any number of theories we just share the fact we do not believe in a god or gods. And I dont know what will happen when i die but I have a feeling the world will end with me (from my point of view at least).
  • So you are telling me that good people and bad people here with us now will end the same? I can't accept that whether you are a good human or bad the end is the same for all. Just my thought!
  • Justice on Earth is irrelavant! Because this world is all about $$$$$. Haven't you figured out that majority of people (religious and non) will do whatever to any extent when the ultimate reward is money. Why should there be human rights for all when it's for only a short time. It's like a jungle the strongest will live lavishly while others less fortunate will soley exist. I still believe in a higher being/s and another place for our souls once we depart this dimension.
  • every version of "atheist" has a different view on death some believe that they just rot in the ground some believe that they float in space some believe that they are turned into the dirt and turn into a plant of some sort i have alot of atheist friends and these are some of the views they told me...so there are millions of views that athiests have not just one universal belief
  • I again beg to differ. The famine, tortures, injustce that takes place here is all human behavior. Some greed some do to sickness. The aethiest thought will not promote humans to behave any better. There already are laws in place for this life. I am religious and don't believe that ALL will go to heaven after death. I believe that it all depends on your soul and not the face you put on for others. The higher being will be able to judge your sould and make that determinitation of where your sould will end up. Once again, only my thoughts and beliefs.
  • a state of geletin limbo.
  • Worm food. Same as everybody else.
  • we just die and thats it. so make something out of your life!
  • The world eats them.
  • I know what your getting at, but atheists don't believe in an afterlife, but they do believe and hold faith in the following concept;
  • This question isn't really answerable because Atheist isn't a set religion. It's not like there's an Atheist bible out there that states "when you die, since there's no God that means etc. etc." An Atheist is an individual. Each one has their own ideas. Some think you just vanish, some thing you reincarnate, some believe in energy theories, and other have their own theories entirely.
  • I think that this is a fair question. An atheist is one who denies the existence of a deity or of divine beings. An agnostic is one who believes it impossible to know anything about God or about the creation of the universe and refrains from commitment to any religious doctrine. Being a Christian, I'm not qualified to answer your question, but I look forward in reading the answers.
  • Pop! Gone.
  • Well, most Atheists I know believe that they will cease to respirate, metabolize, etc, and will begin to decompose. I've never met one that doesn't believe this.
  • Atheists can believe in a lot of things like reincarnation and moksha (salvation), for example. I think too many people assume that all atheists rely on scientific theories. Atheists can be spiritual too. They just don't believe in God.
  • Atheists don't have a group belief about anything. We aren't believers and we aren't a group. It is the inability to believe that led to me be an atheist. The evidence is that, like all creatures, when I die I will decompose. Since matter cannot be destroyed it stands to reason that the molecules that make up "me" will be redistributed. My DNA has been passed on the future generations to mutate and mingle. (It's "atheist" by the way, not "athiest" :))
  • Rot. Death is nothing more then... well really, it's a state where you don't exist, where nothing exists... it's non-existance for the dead.
  • Nothing.
  • Can't speak for all atheists, many believe different things in that regard (the only belief you can reliably say all Atheists share is 'there is no god'), but personally: Since the entirety of myself is composed of my physical self, all my experiences are entirely within my brain, and my whole body (including my brain) will cease to function and subsequently rot after I die... When I die, I'll cease to exist in any meaningful way. I will no longer experience anything (I won't experience an empty void of nothingness - that'd be something). To try to understand what I mean, what did it feel like before you were born? What does it feel like when you have a completely dreamless sleep? 'That' is the closest I can imagine to what happens after I die. And it's not a bad thought either - once I die, I'll be too dead to even notice, let alone care : P
  • game over. Death is like what is what like before you were born. How did that feel?
  • Different Atheist people have different beliefs. But I think the most common, including mine, is that nothing happens to us. No 'Hell'. No 'Heaven'. We just rot away. Nothing spiritual. However, I myself, would like to be cremated.
  • Personally, I think we just lay in the dirt. But I really, really hope I'm wrong. Then again, if I'm wrong, I'm going to Hell anyway, so it doesn't matter.
  • Become worm food :)
  • Ashes to ashes....dust to dust....The final curtain call is when you take your last breath. There are no encores. The stage is now set for the next person and so on and so forth. Life goes on...and if we left a lasting legacy, we will live on in the hearts and minds of others (at least for a generation or two).
  • Turn out the lights....the party's over!
  • Atheists don't "believe". They "know". Just ask them ;)
  • They get to finally stop explaining and rationalizing their beliefs (or lack thereof) to the religious right.
  • Nothing just Darkness.
  • Absolutely nothing.
  • As many have said, Atheists vary on what their beliefs are. Many people confuse Atheism with a total lack of spirituality, but in fact, Atheists can be spiritual. Atheists simply don't believe in God. However, even Buddhism has been considered an "Atheistic" religion. I, personally, believe that we decompose like everything else, and that our consciousness blinks into nothingness. Not darkness, for we would have to remain conscious of darkness, but I mean complete lack of consciousness. This is something that we cannot even comprehend.
  • We rot in a box, or roast in an oven. If you're really unlucky, you'll get pooped out of an alligator or something. No exceptions, no time off for good behavior.
  • If I run into any "athiests", I'll be sure to ask them. As for ATHEISTS.... Most of us believe that you'll simply go to the same place we were for the FIRST 13.5 billion years of the Universe's existence...
  • You rot in a box, or roast in an oven. If you're really unlucky, you'll get pooped out of an alligator or something. No exceptions, no time off for good behavior.
  • Nothing. You're dead.
  • I'm an atheist and I believe that when we die, we die. There's no afterlife. Hypothetically speaking, if there is an afterlife, we all go there. It doesn't matter if you believe in god or follow the bible, all of our souls end up in the same place. But more than likely, there isn't an afterlife. Our bodies will decompose and turn to dust! there's no hell, no heaven, just maggots!
  • Depends upon the atheist. Personally, my views are pretty well explained in this poem... Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle Autumn’s rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush. I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die.
  • A good analogy would be unplugging a computer. It has a thinking mind and "consciousness" but when you unplug it there is nothing but the carcass. I think we live on though through our offspring - what we've taught them and instilled in them, our memory and advice.
  • After people die they decompose.
  • Personally, and I can't speak for everyone, I believe that nothing happens whatsoever. And I find that quite encouraging.
  • Basically, they think you turn into dust, which eventually, becomes a seed or root, which becomes a tree. A hardcore atheist told me this once, and I said how would you like it if you died, became a tree, which was then cut down and used as a table for holding bibles.
  • The brain makes up who we are. Once it is dead we no longer exist. Nonexistence is neither good nor bad.
  • If you're buried, rot away into the earth. If you're cremated or buried, I don't think any amazingly spiritual thing happens. However I do believe everything has a spirit just not....not like heaven and hell etc.
  • u get buried or cremated.
  • Nothing.
  • Um, atheism is the only thing (that one can say for sure, 100%) that atheists have in common. The evidence points to decomposition.
  • Generaly it involves maggots, runny stuff, and, eventually, dirt
  • we rot
