  • In the US it's AB negative, but it varies from region to region.
  • AB negative
  • AB is the rarest blood type. If you add in RH factor, the rarest is AB-. http://www.blood.co.uk/pages/world_blood.html
  • 1) "The rarest blood type is the type that's not available when YOU need it!" 2) "Statistically, the rarest is AB Rh negative. However, at the Red Cross, we think of the rarest type as being the one we don't have when we need it the most. More people have type O blood, and those are the donors we need most." http://www.bloodsaveslives.org/donate/blooddonor.cfm 3) AB- has 0.8% of the world population http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type 4) There are exotic blood types in other classifications: "The rarest blood type found is called bombay blood (subtype h-h), found only in a Czechoslovakian nurse in 1961 and in a brother and sister in Massachusetts in 1968." "Bombay blood (hh) is the rarest of the rare blood types, essentially being completely outside the ABO system that the rest of humanity has. They do not have the A or B antigens, and instead of having the H antigen which defines type O, they actually produce antibodies to H. This blood type was first discovered in Bombay in 1950 and that is where the name comes from. People who have this type of blood can only receive blood from others with the same type of blood, and there are very few of them. One article about a boy in India with this blood type states that there are only 57 people in India with Bombay blood." http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=500722 http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=bombay%20blood
  • the answer of bombay blood is correct , i went to grade school in lawrence , massachusetts with wayne and patricia jalbert who are the brother and sister that possess the rarest blood. they have to live within a short distance of each other in case of an accident. we do know that they were adopted and they have 2 younger brothers , one named jalbert and one named guimond , who do NOT have the rare blood type.
  • the one you donot have when u need it
  • Actually the rarest blood types are blood type Waco & blood type Athens (one discovered in Waco, Texas the other in Athens, Georgia) however both are mostly considered a genetic disorder (they cause a certain percentage of blood cells to be sickled without being anemic) There are only 29 recorded cases of Waco & I think about 54 of Athens Btw I'm number 29 Ftw go Malaria immunities :j
