• <irony> We, not often. Others, very often. </irony>
• Because it's easy for people to jump on someone else's pre-formed negative opinion and take it for their own, than to think for themselves. Often people are frightened to speak their own mind if it goes against the majority.
• It should come as no surprise that we cannot go around saying only the truth all the time, because life would become too cold and calculated to bear. However, most people do not regard it as a neccesary part of understanding the world, and even when they do, they have no desire to better understand the world in the first place. Perhaps these people have no interest in the ways of the world, which would be selfish when it comes right down to it. Or maybe they don't like to think too much, which would be a sign of laziness, which boils down to selfishness. (You know, these people who say "My head hurts" after having even a brief philosophical discussion.) These are two reasons why people avoid seeking truth. But to the question, why would these people actually be offended when confronted with the truth? They get offended for the same reason: selfishness. By avoiding pursuit for truth, they are concentrating on their own lives. The truth can be a short-term barrier for our immediate gratification, and these people want no part of it. They fail to see, however, that by looking at the bigger picture, the truth isn't a barrier at all, it's a necessary tool for improving one's self. After all, by embracing the truth, we can help others. And we're all "others." "My head hurts." "Then why don't you kill yourself?"
• Because most peole don't want to believe they're wrong and when presented with the truth through facts they become threatened. And that creates a berrier to learning and progression. That's why ignorance is bliss.
• cause some people get offended easily
