Ah...the great question asked by Mac and Linux users everywhere...

The answer is so complex it's simple: Because not enough people want to change.

Because the market is flooded with Microsoft products, and people have experience with them at work, home and school, they are comfortable with them. They know that changing to a new operating system, or software package, would take them into unfamiliar territory, and, in the world of computers, that can be a little scary.

The obstacle is that most companies are reluctant to change. Most people (over the age of 22) get their computer exposure at work, and most companies still rely on Microsoft products. If these companies started using new operating systems, people might be more willing to accept the change.

Microsoft knows this, which is why they do everything they can to make sure companies feel like they can't afford to change. The industry is neck-deep in Microsoft and it's hard to crawl out.

So remember the Microsoft motto: The devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.

    Peace!

Thats because people don't know that there are Free Alternatives to Micro$oft's products. But the reason no one switches to Linux is because People think that it's hard to install. That simply, is not True. Most likely the one saying that probably never even installed Windows. It probably just came preinstalled on their computer.

If anyone wants a good Alternative i listed a couple of them:

http://www.ubuntu.com/ - Ubuntu (based on Debian)
    http://www.debian.org/ - Debian
    http://www.gentoo.org/ - Gentoo Linux
    http://mandriva.com/ - Mandriva Linux
http://www.linspire.com - Linspire Linux (Formally Lindows)
    http://www.fedora.redhat.com - Fedora Linux

Thats only a couple, i only included the most popular Distributions, for a complete list: http://www.linux.org/dist/list.html

A lot of people say that Mircosoft products suck. This is simply not true. The only reason why they SEEM to suck is because more people are using them. Thus, there is a greater chance someone will stumble upon an error. Also, I must agree that to a certain extent, it is that people are too lazy to change. Also, there is the issue of compatibility with most other computers.
