No. All you can do is move to a country that has no military service, and then you won't be paying any military taxes. Of course, there are no such countries, because it is an unfortunate fact of life that if there were such a country its neighbors would quickly annex it. Where there is no military, you have a power vacuum, and vacuums here on earth are always filled eventually. General Suvorov of Imperial Russia said "You will feed an army. Ours or theirs." But take heart. You aren't GIVING the military anything. They are coming and TAKING it. Therefore, you aren't responsible for what they do with your tax money.

The answer is No. No One is above the Law.

Yes, Of course you can refuse to pay your taxes; people do it all the time, and many of them do it for conscientious reasons. Just tell the IRS that you refuse to pay your taxes because you do not believe in the way the money is being spent. They will put you through the usual process they put everyone else who doesn't pay, for whatever reason, and eventually, they will sieze your bank account, or your assets, and you will have to pay a fine. You could probably hold them off for a good year if you played your cards right and hid your money from them, but eventually you will have to pay. Refusing to pay for a year, though, is a legitimate form of protest. so long as someone, such as your congressman or senator know about it, otherwise it's a pointless gesture. I'd say do it. I'm thinking of doing it myself this year. with the new congress in place now is definitely the time to do it.

You can always refuse to pay your taxes but you won't be able to refuse the big thug in your cell everynight. Why don't you have a chat with Wesley Snipes. I bet he's sweating it out just a little bit.
-
You can always refuse as a protest. You will be sent to jail eventually, but you would be a cool protester.

The military spending, or "national defense" as a total sum equals 17.2 % according to the 2005 Office of Management and Budget Report. See link below. Not all of that money buys guns and bullets. You also need research, bandages, food, gifts for the locals. Your 17.2% may be going to a "worthy" cause. http://ca.encarta.msn.com/media_461566684/U_S_Government_Spending.html

paying taxes is one of the greatest services you can offer your country.
-
Yes you can refuse to pay taxes FOR ANY REASON. You can also refuse to pass GO and collect $100, but you can not refuse to go to jail.
-
that's what maggie gyllenhall (spelling????) did in 'stranger than fiction' .... and you can refuse to do anything in the world, but there are consequences

As Roger Kovaciny said it, the answer is no. Unfortunately. You don't get to decide very much about what is done with your money. About all you can decide is whether any of it goes to the campaign fund of the next scumball. That's what voting is for. If you and a whole bunch of people get together, you can vote in the issues and politicians that support your beliefs. And THEN you can have less funding go to the army, or perhaps better yet, have the army not going around bullying the rest of the world! Unfortunately, the number of supporters you would need to do this is stiflingly huge, and thus no one has ever done it. The fact is, if you refuse to pay taxes, you're going to hurt yourself. Not the government. Not its bullying of the rest of the world. In the end the feds are going to end up with MORE money. Heck, they WANT you to TRY to cheat them because they KNOW they'll get it back with more in spades. You know what Al Capone went to jail for? Look him up on Wikipedia. The answer is not encouraging, if you want to consider letting up on your taxes. The fact is that the government IS in fact no different from a Mafia, except they're way more powerful. You're paying them 'protection' money. I ended the last paragraph saying this in a different way, but if everyone stood up to it, they could win. But they won't. They won't for the same reason that third parties aren't elected. There's no way to simultaneously build up enough people's confidence to stand up because though they may if most other people were standing up, they look around and see a lot of other people lying down. When they vote, they vote for the lesser scumbag because they they don't have the courage, or they know that most people haven't the courage, or they know that most people know that most people don't have the courage (continue this ad infinitum), the courage to go for a good man (or woman). And so they all decide either not to vote, essentially for the same reason, or to put it in the direction of the slightly lesser scumbag. Things would be much better if everyone could be polled on who they'd REALLY want, but no one as of yet has invented the telepathy-based voting machine. There is only one solution, I'm afraid. Not to make the money in the first place. Then they can't get you. Or possibly not to make it in a taxable form. Perhaps you can put as much of it as you can into one of those Mutual funds where you're only taxed on the amount when you eventually take the money back out. And then keep it in there for a long time, and plan on taking the money back out in some distant future, if you're actually optimistic about it, and save it there for a time if and when our army ISN'T bullying the rest of the world. Which could be a long while.

No way! For one thing you just don´t know if precisely your tax dollar are going to finance the military. Besides you have a government to support!. That´s why someone said that there are two things which are unavoidable:death and taxes.

You can refuse on account that no one can actually show you the law that says you have to pay Federal income tax, but you'll likely end up paying a lot more on legal fees going to many different courts. http://www.freedomtofascism.com/

It turns out that taxation WITH representation ain't so hot either. You can refuse and you can pay attorneys to keep you out of prison instead...with questionable results.
-
You can not refuse to pay taxes, period. It's illegal to not pay taxes. Since you can not determine which part of your taxes go toward military costs your argument will get you nowhere.
-
You sure can. The IRS can also come and take all of your belongings and throw you in jail.
-
How about figuring out what proportion of your taxes supports the military and donating it to a peace charity instead? You could even get a tax deduction for it.
-
Your federal taxes do not support the military or any other federal program. They are collected for the purpose of paying interest on the national debt; this money goes straight to the "federal" reserve. This is why medicare & social security come out of your paycheck as a separate line item... vice out as "taxes"

I hate the US support of Israel terrorists -- we support them by supplying millions of dollars every MONTH, as well as weapons. I would stop paying taxes in a heartbeat if I didn't mind my final days being spent behind bars. I have an ethical objection to the actions of the Israelis, and we are paying for it.

Just want to mention here that while you can't legally refuse to pay taxes - you can go ahead and NOT pay taxes, and there is very little chance you will ever be audited. Plenty of people don't ever pay taxes. Of course if you ever ARE audited, you will be charged with back taxes and interest penalties. Just FYI. As an aside, I am not advocating doing this, just pointing out facts. But I feel you on not wanting to fund military projects you disagree with - I wish we could designate which areas of government we wanted our money to go toward. I wouldn't fund one dime of the occupation of Iraq. Ah well.
