How is a rapid body survey different from a head to toe examination?

    A head to toe examination is just that; a relatively thorough once-over of the body to identify injury, signs and symptoms.

    However, when it's obvious where someone's injury or illness ir originating from, you can do a quick, less thorough rapid body survey and then get to treating the affected site. Keep in mind that there may be secondary injuries, though, like an exit wound from lightning or a bullet, or scratches, lacerations and bruising that are more minor than the patient's major complaint.
