When I was younger (11) and weighed 130 pounds I lost 30 pounds in 2 1/2 months. I'm 16 now and only weigh 140 pounds. I think I lost weight way too fast. I wasn't eating much at all, and I would pass out all the time, even when just walking, because I had no calories to burn. I was able to go back to my normal habits after I lost the weight and I didn't gain any of it back for about a year, but that was a scary time for me. I've always been really good at loosing weight whenever I gain it and keep it off for a long time (until I grow more). I don't think there are many people out there who can loose weight like me. Say i gained 15 pounds in the next month or so. I could loose that 15 pounds in about a month and not make my self sick or not eat at all. I would just eat smaller meals and try to work out about twice as much. It just falls right off me. I would say that if you are loosing more than 3 pounds a week it is going too fast. Try to loose 2 pounds a week without being anorexic or bulimic.

1 -2 pounds per week is a safe rate to lose weight, anything over that could be considered unhealthy and there's an increased chance of gaining the weight right back and then some. Most people don't gain excess weight "overnight" and shouldn't try to lose it "overnight" either. It took me about 18 months to lose 25 pounds and I've been able to keep it off because of the slow loss. It takes a life style change in eating and exercise to maintain weight loss.

i am no docter, but the faster you lose the weight the faster you will gain it back.

Probably a minimum of 3 pounds a day.

They say about 2/3 pounds a week when you are young, this enables the skin to go back into position and means you are not starving yourself. Exercise and good diet is imperative. An older person should lose weight at a slower rate because the skin is not as pliable and will not jump back as a younger persons does. Whatever you do , do it sensibly. If you lose weight too fast the body will go into what they call famine mode. This means that as soon as you eat anything the body will STORE it as fat to get through the next famine. This is the reason there is so much yo yo dieting.

You shouldn't lose more than two lbs a week and then to lose that much you should be under a doctor's supervision.

one to two pounds a week is safe for most people, but hardly a number set in stone...if youre fatter you can lose more, but its best to consult a medical professional for that sort of thing

That depends. The more overweight you are, the more likely you are to lose a lot of weight very quickly. When you start any kind of weight loss diet or exercise regimen, you're going to drop a lot of water weight right off the bat (again, the amount depends on how heavy you are and how much water your body retains), especially if you've been walking around in a state of mild dehydration from not drinking enough water. Most people will tell you that somewhere in the range of 1-2 pounds per week is safe. Personally, I think you can lose more than that depending on what type of weight loss program you're doing, how much weight you have to lose, and as long as you don't starve yourself in the process.

Typically, on an "Average" person, you should be losing about a lb (pound) a week.

If your on a "crash diet" it's not uncommon to loose a lot of weight fast in one to three weeks. However if you keep loosing more then a few pounds in a week, its not good for you. See a doctor if you have any questions, every one is different and you want to be sure your not doing real harm to your health. Often doctors can give you a diet to help you loose some weight, it is considered a health issue to be to thin or heavy and to gain or loose weight to fast.

I have tracked my calories and have been eating healthy and working out. I have dropped 10 pounds in 9 days and have not been hungry. I am not a really large person either (5'8" and was 165...now 155 lbs) I have been eating about every 2 hours, just healthy snacks and then lunch and dinner. I really don't think it's bad for me. I feel great and haven't been hungry. If I do have a craving I just eat a snack. Everybody is different. If I felt weak or hungry, it would be different. I would say just be sensible and listen to your body. I'm not a dietitian though.
