ALL THINGS in moderation is a good rule to live by.

Apples are not known to be a toxic problem for dogs. Although always keep in mind that within a given number of individuals (say 100 dogs) at least ONE will have a negative reaction to ANY given substance. The substance being ingested, applied to the skin, a food, medication, herb, grooming product, cleaning product or lawn care product that the dog comes into contact with.

It's the same with people, although we also add cloth and of course for both animals and people it includes AIR BORN substances...pollen...and other allergens.

No matter how "safe" or supposedly "good for you" something is, SOMEONE will have a negative reaction to IT.

I routinely use apple sauce to plain yogurt as part of my "stuffing" mixture for filling a Kong for dogs. I then freeze it so that it lasts longer (and is less messy too!) One or two spoonfuls is enough.

Our dearly departed Chocolate Lab, Coffee, used to sit and drool anytime I peeled apples for Apple Tart...she LOVED to eat the peels!
