Personally, I will celebrate anything that means a party. lol Here we celebrate all kinds of "foreign" holidays. Bastille Day, Laotian New Year, St. Patrick's Day, Oktoberfet, and Cinco De Mayo. There are a lot of people here that have come from somewhere else and they bring their celebrations with them. And if it means a party then most people here will join in the fun.

I work with Mexicans and they don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo at all. Turns out that it is not a national holiday in Mexico. It commemorates the Mexican victory over French forces at Puebla, though the defeated French captured Mexico City later anyway. Why it is so big in the US is a mystery since only the residents of Puebla celebrate it at all.
