  • These statements are not directly supported by the Bible. The apostle Peter says in 1 Peter 5:8 "Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." Peter did not think the Devil was killed when Jesus died. The only passage that indicates anything about Jesus and "trapped souls" is in 1 Peter 3 "he went and preached to the spirits in prison." In Psalm 68 there is a line "When you ascended on high, you led captives in your train." This is quoted in Ephesians, but I don't think it is a sufficiently clear reference to specifically support the statement in the question.
  • We have to return to the Holy Bible each time to find out what is true and what is not. The Apostle Paul writes to Timothy "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" Sadly, even some mainline churches have turned to tradition to "fill out" things they don't have enough information on in the Bible. We do not know what happened to Jesus in the time He was in the grave. It is a secret that God will reveal in Heaven. We know He died, that is all, then He rose. Traditions are many that say He went to hell and freed trapped souls, but the Bible tells us that souls in hell are there for good. It is more likely that this tradition had its origins in well-meaning people who were of Greek background and knew legends such as Orpheus or Persephone. These Christianised beliefs have become so well known in some christian churches, that they appear in art and many people who have not read the Bible think they are in the Bible. The Nicene Creed says of Jesus' death "He descended into hell" The phrase simply means he truly died and went into the (realm of) the dead. Nothing more. Hope this helps.
  • Jesus dies on the cross he went to hell, to defeat the devil not kill, and set captives free.
  • LOL! THAT'S THE BIGGEST SACK OF SH!T I'VE EVER HEARD... HOW IGNORANT CAN PEOPLE GET. WHAT I DO BELIEVE IS THAT JESUS WAS HUMAND AND THAT HE DIED OF OLD AGE AND THAT HE WAS MARY MAGDALENES HUSBAND.... HELLO HE WAS A JEW HE HAD TO GET MARRIED! I ALSO BELIEVE HE WAS THE MESSENGER OF GOD AND THAT HE HAD SOME TYPE OF PSYCHIC POWERS AND VISIONS JUST LIKE SOME PEOPLE DO NOW IN THESE DAYS.
  • No. Jesus is a myth. Sounds a lot like Greek mythology doesn't it.
  • No. He died, defeated death by rising 3 days later. Satan is still alive-you can see his works by all the hate, crime, disease, and evil in the world. When Jesus comes back, he will send Satan, his demons, and all the unbelievers to hell. Right now, they are still there.
  • Wow! A mass escape. I could smell a movie brewing with Tom Cruise as Hesus.
