Strawberries come from a strawberry plant. The reason they are called strawberries is because it was common for the plants to be grown in a straw bed, with a center plant or crown and then you space out the runners that come from the crown all around the plant like the spokes of a wheel.

Right across my driveway. We have wild berries (multiple kinds) all over here, but the birds usually get to them before we even know they've come out.
