Yes, they can. It's like companies that are involved in competitions. Their families cannot enter. However, if you had a friend who would buy the thing for you, I am sure that would be legal.

Yes, if hiring you included not purchasing items from the store for a discount, as a condition of employment. Its like police officers cannot bid, at auction, on property and vehicles they have legally seized. its not ethical.
-
No. You are able to act as a customer. It sounds really fishy to me.

Its sort of like making stock trades with inside knowledge. You have an unfair knowledge of that item being on such a good sale. The customers would never have a chance to get the item. They may have put out adverts displaying that price, and there would be some irate customers if they got there and the employees bought up all those items.

Yes. Businesses have he right to not sell to almost anybody for any reason. Many states have exceptions for protected classes (e.g. race and gender), but being an employee is not a protected class. Many retailers have such policies on their loss leaders. Companies often advertise products at below cost in order to get people into the store. If employees were permitted to buy these items, they would, which would defeat the purpose of getting customers in the store who will buy other goods.
