At the risk of sounding flippant... any way He wants. In the Bible there are examples where God used disease, drought, famine, bugs, darkness, conquering army... In one case the ground opened up and "swallowed" a bunch of people. In some cases people just fall down dead with no apparent cause. One king was smitten with apparent insanity. It is difficult today to discern whether a particular consequence is specifically the judgement of God or just the natural consequence of a behavior or something else.

He bitch-slaps the sinner down to hell with his giant hand

God would have to be vengeful to smite people and God simply isn't. Those who think she is are simply weak individuals who are in need of someone to control them. It is easier to blame something external such as God then to take responsibility for yourself. If God were vengeful she would have wiped us out a long time ago, God knows there are a few who could use it.

God does not smite people. God is fair and just. A "just" God is not capable of smite. The charge that God indiscriminately murdered people does not hold to critical evaluation of the biblical texts. The commandment "Thou shalt not kill" is really not as general as the King James version would indicate. The commandment actually refers to premeditated, unjustified killing - murder. Although God ordered the extermination of entire cities, He did so in righteous judgment on a people whose corruption had led to extreme wickedness, including child sacrifice. Did God destroy the righteous along with the wicked? In an exchange with Abraham, God indicated that He would spare the wicked to save the righteous. He demonstrated this principle by saving righteous people from Sodom and later Jericho prior to their destruction. The charge that God indiscriminately murdered people does not hold to to critical evaluation of the biblical texts. We don't call a line crooked unless we have some idea of what a straight line is. It's the standard of God's justice that enables us to learn what injustice is.

For all of you christians out there, smite means kill! it says so in your precious little bible that none of you seem to read properly or just read the happy nice parts your decieving pastor tells you to read. How does god smite people? its simple, either 1.god is simply a murderous, vengeful, jealous, egotistical child or 2.he does not exist. We all better hope it's number 2!

lol He parts the clouds and you see a big hand come at you, be prepared for the big slap down. People that say they are christians and yet in the same breath say god is not a vengeful entitiy should read that bible just a bit harder, it clearly says ..oh lets see..vengeance is mine saith the lord, and if the lord and god are one in the same..well then enough said.

He doesn't. There isn't a god. If there were, we'd be left to wonder why unbelievers don't die at higher rates than believers. No god. No smiting. Primitive threats and explanations, that's all.

He makes them egotistical, arrogant, big talking, bigheaded, cocky, conceited, immodest, know-it-all, loudmouth, narcissistic, overweening, phony, puffed up, self-important,swollen-headed, vainglorious, windbags and leaves the rest up to us. It's up to the rest of us to teach these poor souls the error of their ways and if they can't learn they are doomed straight to a hell of their own making.
