• In a sense of the entire group, I can see your point. Even Dr. Willard Harley has found this. However, such tendency cannot be extrapolated to say what an individual will choose. This general tendency is also highly dependent upon culture and, therefore, socialization, as well as where individuals reside within Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

• Even if these things do not change within an individual, each individual will have a separate answer based upon her individual, unique circumstances. If this is surveying for any purpose other than personal curiosity, I'm not sure this is a good sampling method. I remember you said something earlier about a statistics class.

• thats what exartly what iam saying.But i am not sure if every one is giving an honest answer here .
  But still as a student of statistics and engineering i belive in random sampling.Every chance may not be fair or unbiased or based on ant theory .But there is evenness in every uneven event.Hence studing the most uneven thing that is human behaviour is not possible on a platform like answer bag.But i dont regret asking this on answer bag.Now adays most of our surveys are done like this.ut i havent got enough responce to term it as a sucessful survey?

• I don't really believe that what you have here is random sampling. A random sampling method takes from the population at large. What you have here is people who have computer access, internet access, and an interest in question and answer forums. I am sure, for example, you will have a higher percentage of people at the higher levels of Maslow's heirarchy than exists in the general population. Response is also an issue. You have those who are willing to respond. I think with the number of responses you get are so few, and the population sample so skewed, that you will not get anything but personal information and statistical outliers.

• you tell mehow many keep self actualization on the top and phsiological need at the bottom of the pyramid.
  Its just a theory mam. internet users are from this very world too they are a part of a large population.Being internet user also wont change your mentality to much extent.
  Hence random sampling also holds good as well as your Maslow's hierarchy to some extent.
