i would say at 'quarter to three'. Thats how i was taught. So your hands on the wheel, as if it were a clock were pointing to quarter to three, or 10 to 3 ish what evers comfortable. This way you have control of the wheel, can move your hands freeley, and also if you get rammed or have a crash, the only part of you hand that will get damaged is your thumb as it comes off the wheel.

In FL. it is at 10 and two. Even though research shows that you should hold it more at 3 and 9. They say that with your hands at 10 and 2 the force of the air bag coming out can actually break your wrists. But in Fl. the archaic book still says 10 and 2.
