  • She saved the Jews from annihilation from the Persians by changing the king's opinion of them. The holiday Purim is celebrated honoring this. I liked the Esther movie and I usually don't go for religious type programming. http://www.jewfaq.org/holiday9.htm
  • The significance of Queen Esther or Hadassah is seen not only in her saving her people from destruction, but also in securing their safety and respect in a foreign land. This made possible her people's survival and Nehemiah's service in the king's court many years later. He, Nehemiah, was also selected to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. Had the Jews been killed in Esther's day then the remnant of Jews would never have rebuilt their city. It would have changed Jewish history dramatically.
  • Esther was prepared to risk her life for the sake of her people. When she had to appear before the King to beg him to retract Haman's decree, he could have had her killed for appearing without permission (Esther 4:11). She also encouraged the entire Jewish community to improve their own spiritual standing at the time (Esther 4:16). Esther is considered one of Judaism's seven prophetesses. She also instituted the celebrations associated with the festival of Purim and ensured that the story of Purim (known as the Scroll of Esther) be included in the Holy Scriptures. (see Esther 9:32 and the commentary of the Talmud in Megillah 7a: Esther wrote to the sages: "Establish me [i.e., the reading of my story] for all generations.... Write me down [as a book in Torah] for all generations....")
  • She was beautiful inside and outside. She was orphaned at an early age, a cousin took her in (Mordecai) and raised her in a land where they (the Jews) were in exile and distrusted by their captors. She became Queen, without her husband, King Xerxes, having any idea that she was a Jew and saved her people from annihilation. In His service, <:))))<>< "Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither."
  • Thanks to everyone's answer. I think Esther was a great model for how we as godly women should be. God Bless!
  • Esther's beauty could have led her to live a life of luxury and ease in the court of her royal husband Xerxes, but she did not choose that way. Instead, she chose to live a godly life, true to her beliefs, and wait for a time that she could be used by God in the furthering of his purposes. As Mordecai pointed out to her at the time of crisis: "And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" She knew that going to the King without a royal summons could mean her death, but she risked it to save her people. And God honoured her. The Jews were saved and, indeed, gained some kudos in the eyes of the king. It was because of this that the celebration of Purim was instituted, which means that Esther has had a deep influence on Israel, since this is one of the major Jewish festivals.
  • She was pretty and won the sex contest to be made queen. Pretty women who are good in bed are honored. She had a few people hanged. She was a damn good liar. She also saved the Jews.
  • She willingly, aided the Lord and Mordecai in saving the nation of Jews. She was an orphan and Mordecai was her cousin who raised her...powerful, like Deborah in doing the Lord's work.... Haman definitely reaped what he sowed!
