Does tony stewarts allegations against nascar surprise you ? or do you think nascar is just a bunch of hollywood hype now?

    Tony Stewart was right on target!!! I've been to many of the races he referred to as an Official of the sport. I've heard NASCAR Officials in the tower call for a caution flag for debris on the track, then never send any crews out to look for the item. It seemed to happen most when the Nextel Cup Champion, Jimmy Johnson needed a pit stop more times than not. Tony had his crew video record several of these calls and the tapes don't lie. The one that cost him the win was called as "Debris in turn 2". No one was ever sent to turn 2, nor did the televised coverage of the race see any activity in that area or anything on the track. Tony was right, but he got his head slapped by the NASCAR President for saying it publically. Mike Helton told Tony, "If you don't like the way we are handling things here, go race somewhere else, but keep you mouth shut if you want to remain here. You will publically appologize and offer a pre-approved recant of your statement". Tony did this, but looked like someone had his "you know whats" in a pair of vise grips when he did it live on SPEED. Tony learned a valuable lesson here. If you are not the current champion, keep your mouth shut. Tony was right, he was just the only driver with enough guts to say something about it. He won't do that again, I can bet cha!

    Thank you for your question.

    Tony Stewart has claimed that NASCAR is like professional wrestling. However, the circumstances were that he was complaining against cautions possibly costing him a race. He isn't the first sportsman to complain about official rulings in any sport and he won't be the last. However, his views don't seem to be widely shared in the NASCAR community with Jeff Gordon likening him to Rosie O'Donnell.
