  • I think you'll need an antibiotic - you may have impetigo. I've never heard of a cold sore in the nasal area. http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/Impetigo-Overview
  • Yeah,it may be impetego. I had it as a child once...Are they like blistery sores that spread? Not fun...not pretty either. Go see your doctor to be sure.
  • it's not a cold sore. It's an infection in a hair follicle or a staph or other infection caused 90% of the time by nose picking and getting germs from fingers and fingernails in there on the soft mucous membrane and then you get an infection. MY ENT specialist doctor and family doctor both say the same thing. Put a small amount of Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic ointment on a Q Tip and gently rub it into the side wall of the nose where the sore is. Do this 2-3 x a day and keep you finders out of your nose, even if it itches.! Even very sore noses, unless the infection is bad, will feel much better in about 2-3 days. If not or if it gets worse or you have other symptoms (be sure you can take the antibiotic or try it on another spot of skin first even though it would be rare to have any negative reaction from the weak OTC stuff), call your doctor, as you might need a stronger systemic oral antibiotic, or an exam to be sure it is not something more serious.
  • I would use emu oil
  • I have had cold sores in the nostril area. They can appear in different places on your face then just your mouth.
  • This is different than an ingrown hair or a staph infection. I get these a couple times a year. My ENT said it is the same strain of herpes that caues cold sores on your mouth. (No, I don't get it anywhere else.) He gives me a cream called Denavir and once when it got really, really bad, an oral medication called Famvir. If I catch it when it VERY FIRST starts to hurt and turn red, I can just use the cream. It is very, very painful, and very, very embarassing. It seems to happen to me when I've been really stressed out. Over the counter cold sore remedies really don't work. You really should see the doctor so you can get a cold sore cream. Good luck to you!
