Have you updated the drivers for the graphics card? If no, try that, if yes then it could be the problem. If yes and it is the problem uninstall the graphics drivers and reinstall/download and install. Most likely the driver you received is corrupted. If you haven't upgraded your graphics driver, then it may be time to do so. If neither of those worked or if the problem persists then it may be time for a new monitor. LCD lasts longer, takes less power and appears (thus far) to be highly stable. Tube (electron gun inside of a glass screen) wear out fast, especially if left on 24/7 even with a screen saver. Lastly, if it is a tube kind check to make sure no magnetic sources are near by, as in speakers, computer tower, electrical wiring (beyond the cords that come attached. Electro-magnetic interference can adjust the screen in unwanted ways.

as Atheral's answer but it Sounds like the monitor is dieing time to upgrade....... TFT's look cool and are ok to watch films or play games on but if you are into photography get a CRT they are better for representing the colours you need and have a better vewing angle CRT should last between 6 and 10 years if they are a good make.
