Correct answer for the military, all salutes are rendered with the right hand.

Only exception that I know of was a troop that lost his right arm, and he saluted with his remaining (meaning left) hand.

I only salute public displays of crudity and partisan allegiance. The flag can go to hell.

I think you have to salute an officer with your right hand.

But my flag never got the necessary promotion.......

    I don't worship a piece of cloth.
It's just propagandic symbolism used by the government to further control the populace.
Communism used this technique like a charm.
I refuse to pledge allegiance to a flag, and would burn it as often as I need to, indivisibly, only heeding God, with liberty and justice for all.

I used my right hand when i was in the army but probably wouldnt now. but saluting the flag is to show respect for your country plus if you didnt you were punished and would more than likely get an article 15.

Only persons in uniform (like military) should salute, and that's done with the right hand.

For times when it's appropriate (hoisting, lowering or passing of a flag, or during the Pledge of Allegiance), the US Flag Code, says: All present, except those in uniform, should face the flag and stand at attention with the right hand over the heart. Those present in uniform should present the military salute.

You can link to the US Flag code at http://www.legion.org/pdf/flagcode.pdf

Neither, I don't salute the flag. I am proud of my country but I don't believe in worshipping inanimate objects.

My country's flag is known as "The Butcher's Apron". My nation's flag is soaked in blood. I do not salute it with a hand. I salute it with 2 fingers.

You are not supposed to salute the flag unless you are in the military. civilians are supposed to put their right hand over their heart.

You only salute when you are in uniform! Civilians aren't expected to salute anything! Any soldier that failed to stop what ever he was working on and present a proper salute can be charged!
