    Kim's right, but just in case anyone needed clarification on this:

    There are two separate countries:

    1. The current Republic of Congo, more commonly known as Congo. This one's on the southwestern coast of Africa.

    2. The Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire, even more formerly Belgian Congo, and in case you aren't confused enough it was also called the Republic of Congo at some point). This one's land-locked, a bit to the east of #1.

    I figured I wasn't the only one to find this EXTREMELY CONFUSING!

    The Republic of Congo was renamed in 1971 to the Republic of Zaire. In 1997, Zaire was renamed to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
