  • Yes I do. Sometimes I love it, and sometimes I hate it. I can get more specific if you can tell me why you want to know.
  • i as an over the road driver for 28 yrs.it was the only thing i ever wanted to do.i loved it.you will threaten to quit 2-3X a wk.but once its in your blood theres nothing else you can do.its almost like a drug addiction.you love it ...on the other hand you hate it..your're away from your family (if you are married) your kids grow up before you know it and you will physically grow old before your time.the only reason i'm out of it now ,i can't pass the physical.talk to the old hands and see its not fun like it used to be,its turned into a job, with the hours of service,DOT,and everyone running scared of the lawyers and insurance companies.but they'll all tell you no matter how old you get ...when you hear a jake brake going down a long grade the hair on the back of your neck will stand and you'll still get that far away look in your eye...
  • I do work in truck, long-haul for over 50 years (I'm 71 years old) and I like it, I only accept very long trips (over 3,000 miles most of the time) that way I really am my own boss. I call in once a day - the rest of the time I'm on my own. I load once and unload and reload once on the far end, the rest of the time I'm rolling down the highway making good money as I go. I carry a real good digital camera and have a photo collection that is out of this world. Trucking is like any other occupation, it's what you make it. TED
  • yes, i do, i am a diesel tech for 15 yrs now and i love it. as the demand for knowledgeable techs has become more needed, my pay has gone up greatly, benefits get better and i am in a feild that has new and advanced computer and engine systems on them then ever before. ask me its great! the technology is amazing! also, i am living every childs dream, i get to drive and repair fire trucks, dump trucks, trash trucks, semi trucks, cranes, seriously, what fun! yep, i am junky, but you gotta love it!
  • I've been driving truck for 9 years now. Love and hate feelings. Easy money, work local, paid OT after 8, paid medical, almost no supervision. But companies these days layoff just as fast as they hire. But can find a job anywhere. Work in LTL freight, a lot of drop & hook, no AC, no radio (take my own), some hard work. I want out before I burn out. The most I made was $52,000 that was 2 years ago. I love it.
  • I have been trucking for about 18 years now. I often joke that I don't know what i would do if I actually had to go to work. Finding your Niche in the trucking industry is the key to being happy here. I am an owner operator and am leased to a company that is really small (Less than 20 trucks). I am home every night and off every weekend. I make lots more money doing this than when I was (Over the Road) for ten years. A job is a job,and if it was all fun then no one would pay you to do it. Happy Trails !
