  • it varies from each state. most states require work release from schools but usually if you are of 16 years old you can work and most of the time it just has different specific things like the number of hours you can work the time of day, etc.
  • Where I live, the legal age is 14 and 9 months. You can work earlier if you have parental consent.
  • In Massachusetts it's 16, but you need to be 17 to drive, and 18 to do any work requiring more adult responsibilities (selling cigarettes, alcohol, scratch tickets etc) (in fact, you may need to be 20 or 21 to deal alcohol. Certainly 21 for firearms. BUT...at 16 you can legally go weed a field of tomatoes or pack boxes in a truck and such. be a clerk at a supermarket. That kind of thing. . I recommend googling it for your state. try "employment age requirements, name of your state"
