  • It literally feels like someone is scrapping your skin very hard with a needle. After the first few minutes it doesn't hurt as bad, your endorphins start kicking in and the area numbs. There is no difference between color and black, the way it is put onto your skin is the same. You can take a vicodin or percocet to lessen the pain if you have any. It won't hurt anything. Just don't have alcohol on your breath, they won't usually give you a tatoo then.
  • Once you are in the chair or on the table you have reached the point of no return. I had a three hour tattoo session and survived, you go numb and you chat with the tattoo artist and before you know it, it's over.
  • I only have greywork but it didn't hurt all that bad.
  • I have one on my shoulder..when they tattoo over a bone thats a little painful but really no big deal. It has beautiful colors.
  • Just remember to think HARD about what you're going to get... you'll be wearing it for the rest of your life. Unless you're in a REALLY comitted relationship, I'd advise AGAINST a boyfriend's name. Maybe after you're married for 20 years...
  • Neck a redbull before you go in - thats what i did. Something about your sugar levels being kept high keeps you more or less immune from things like fainting. I'm prone to fainting and i always remember when i'm being tattooed/pierced to keep breathing :P Sounds silly but you do tend to forget when anxiety's flying. It hurts.. But it doesn't hurt alot. Especially if you've got a talkative tattooist - they're normally very reassuring. Concerning colour - the colour actually hurt me less. The border of the first tattoo i got was the worst - the black border. Slowww, straight lines, they hurt alot. By the time he got to colour he was literally scribbling circles like you might colouring a picture in on paper. That was okay. Good luck!
  • I have over 20 and I don't think they hurt as bad as some people put on. Color or black makes no difference, it's WHERE you get it, how big it is, and your tattoo artist that makes the difference. It's not bad, go for it..
  • people have different pain tolerance. some people cry from getting their ears pierced for god sakes. i have two tattoos and i learned that despite everyone telling me that once my endorphins kick in it'll be less painful, it was not true for me. i waited the whole time for it to kick in! also where you get it done makes a big difference is pain. my arm was fine, but my lower back was worst. oh and that thing about going over the bone hurting more wasnt true for me wither, it felt the same when they went over my spine! basically it feels like someone scraping a piece of sharp glass on my skin over and over.
  • Tattoo pain is dependent on a number of things. The first, is the location. Less painful areas include the upper arms, shoulders and upper back. More painful areas include ankles, upper chest and neck. From my own experience, black is more painful than color, as the black usually requires multiple applications to ensure full coverage.
  • hi..yes it hurts to have a tattoo..depends where u have it.some places can be more sensitive than others..i had one done on my lower back and it killed..noo..color does not hurt more...to me it feels like being stug over and over again by a whasp..but after all the pain in the end i think it was worth it..i will be going back to get another one...just remember to breathe lol..good luck...
  • Doesn't hurt that much. I just got a rush when they were giving mine. The outline for me was worse than the color.
  • All tattoos hurt. How much depends on where you get it on your body/where your nerves are located. I have a huge black dragon that starts near my shoulder and its body goes down my upper arm and the tail spirals down my forearm. The part where she did one of the claws must have hit a bundle of nerves cos it hurt more than the rest of it. It just felt like a 3 and a half hour long bee sting. Wasn't too bad. About color hurting worse as far as I know that is urban myth.
  • Getting colour is no different to plain black. I dont think a tattoo hurts some times in places its a bit uncomfortable but a piercing is by far worse :)
  • mine didnt hurt that much, it depends where you get it really
  • Depends on the location and if you do well at mental diversion techniques. :-)
  • Some people are more sensitive to it than others and location makes a difference, too. Some can take one on the shoulder but not the thigh. Everyone is different.
  • location location location!
  • Where are you getting it done? I have quiet a few and only had one that was considerably uncomfortable. That was on my chest on the collar bone...Other than that, they didn't really hurt me, made me slightly uncomfortable though at times.
  • Yes, its the most painful feeling in the world. Its like being burned alive except 10 time more painful
  • Umm... current category is Home >> Categories >> Legal. Why, are you going to sue someone if they tell you wrongly? Or sue the artist if it does? They use needles. Figure it out.
