$350. (I saw the receipt, my honey's no stealth agent)

It's a natural emerald claddagh he had custom made for my uber-tiny fingers from a jeweller in Ireland. There's not another ring in the world QUITE like it.

    And I LOVE it.

I am SO thankful that he knew me well enough to know my disdain for diamonds and all they stand for.

with tax it ended up being just under $29K. Tiffany and Co Jean Schlumberger Engagement Ring. main diamond is 1.25 Karat, Colorless F, VVS2 or VS2 (cant remember), platinum band. still waiting for the valuation to arrive which is the certification for the ring with all its specs.

My wife and I did not get engagement rings. We got wedding rings, and started wearing them when we officially announced our engagement, so I guess they were engagement/wedding rings. Anyway, to answer your question, about $300 each. Big thick gold bands that match.

I've only had one engagement ring in my life, although I no longer have it. I do not know what my ex paid for the ring, but I doubt it was more than $400.00, given that it was the ultra-rare small, cloudy, grey diamond.

I don't know and I really don't care. The piece of Jewelry does not have to be expensive to be special. Its the thought behind it that counts more than gold and a heafty price tag.

we paid about 1000 for our 2 wedding bands and the engagement ring... not so much that we'd go broke over it, but a very nice set.
On a side note, it cost me my freedom to come & go as I please cuz now we have kids... but I wouldn't have it any other way! lol

I paid $200 for my wife's engagement ring in 1975 and it came with the wedding ring. I made 3 payments - ninety days same as cash. The jeweler had heard me sing in his synagogue and was impressed that the young Baptist preacher boy from the college would be guest cantor for High Holy Days. I didn't know him when I walked in, but he recognized me, greeted me warmly, extended me credit on my signature, and became my very first credit reference.

Thanks for helping me remember this wonderful experience.

About $350 all told. I don't like diamonds... to me, they may as well be glass, or at most cubic zirconium because I sure can't tell the difference. Dumb clear stones, all of 'em. My husband bought a dark blue, absolutely gorgeous sapphire on the internet and had it made into a white-gold setting with tiny diamonds around it, as a nod to tradition. I love it.
