  • There is a whole Star Wars Expanded Universe of books, comics, and cartoons stretching from nearly 2 billion years before The Phantom Menace to over 100 years after Return of the Jedi, so it's hardly a 'new' idea. For example, after Han and Leia marry, they have three children, the twins Jaina and Jacen, and later Anakin. (Every big Star Wars fan knows that). I wouldn't agree with the programme changing it to something completely different, just to make a more popular TV show. I reckon as long as the stories are kept consistent with the official stories already out there, it would work if done well. Having said that , it's obviously a way to make the studio money, that's why they're in business.
  • Way to market the franchise more. I think it's a horrible idea. They're going to massacre the story! Plus, it's not the same if the characters aren't the same...
  • I agree with Penny the Wise. I am a big Star Wars fan, and I think that the television series is completely void of the great feeling you get when you're watching one of the movies. The dialogue is so horribly cheesy and out of character, and the music is nowhere near to remotely posessing the epicness of the music of John Williams. Also, the setup is all wrong with the portrayal of characters. Now, I know that the series is targeted to younger viewers(elementary school), and am not comfortable with letting them see this. The Star Wars youth is somewhat being brainwashed by thinking that this is what Star Wars really is. The series is either making them like something that really shouldn't be idolized, or else it is driving away kids that are having the misconception that this garbage is what Star Wars fans obssess over. All in all, my personal opinion is that the Star Wars name is being mucked up by the Clone Wars series. Matt Filoni messed up.
