My parents own a house the basment is not legal but can i move in as their daughter without paying rent( making it my room)?

I'm assuming that you mean the basement apartment is not a legal rental unit. That only means your parents can't rent it out as an apartment, but as an occupant of the house, how you use the basement is entirely up to you.

If you aren't paying rent, I don't see a problem with it. It is probably good to have you in the house for their well being and vice-versa.
