  • Rods and Cones in the Retina. They don't have as many of one or the other, I can't remember which one is for color. You need the help of others for that one
  • I didn't know we could communicate with animals enough to determine whether they were understanding colors or not...I'm not sure if there is really a way to do that.
  • Unlike some other sensory phenomenon (eg the feel of sandpaper), Color is NOT 'real'. It is simply conversion of a set of different types (ie frequencies) of electromagnetic waves (IE a photons) into a unique brain-sensation, that we *perceive* as a color. For this reason, different eyes and brains will not have the color experience, even when looking at the same physical object. Note this is not true for how BRIGHT something is, so all animals should perceive the same shape from the same silhouette.
