  • I don't suppose he does really, but if his friends have one he'll be under pressure from his peers to have one too. Kids are pretty cruel.
  • The majority of 10 year olds don't. I imagine that some specific 10 year olds may need them to say... Call for a ride home from school or a friends house, but there are usually landline phones around that can be used for that.
  • A 10 year old does not need a cellphone. this age is young for a child to be responsible for a cellphone.
  • They don't NEED one. They just want one. They'll live without it.
  • I don't have a cell phone and never have had one... I'm 19 years old. So, if I never needed one, I'd assume that this particular 10 year old person doesn't either.
  • Maybe because it is trendy and makes them feel older and more in fashion. They do not NEED a cell phone but I know they sit in classrooms texting to one another. Very distracting. If friend have a phone maybe they feel OUT of things. I have even heard the excuse that they do not feel safe without a phone.
  • I believe it is very important for children to have cell phones from a health and safety perspective. The Sullivan report shows how important it is to have a cell phone in an emergency. I keep my Tracfone on me all the time just in case I find I need it and can't get to it on time.
  • So she can call her dad and say "Dad I need a new cellphone. I saw one last night on Ebay for only $200."
