I prefer fiction, most of the time.

Depends what type of mood I'm in - and some non-fiction can be like fiction anyway. But at the moment I'm in a non-fiction mood.

I will read both, but I prefer fiction. I get enough non-fiction (reality) in the newspaper and on the TV news.

They're both about equal in my eyes. There are few things I enjoy more than a good novel, but it can be very hard to get consistent quality out of fiction. And there are some rare times when I'm just not in the proper mindset to suspend my disbelief and fully appreciate works of fiction. In times like that, I turn to a good documentary. My favourite non-fiction topics are epedemiology, sociology, and politics, but as with all things, my tastes vary greatly. I do read more fiction than I do non-fiction, but I like them both about equally.

Fiction based on facts. Facts told as fiction. A judicious mixture of fact and fiction. Facts powerful enough to make an impression so that they will be remembered even after the fictional part is forgotten. I recommend Robert Ludlum.
