Playboy's circulation is more than three million copies in the United States and 4.5 million worldwide. Ther most widely circulated issue appeared in November 1972 and sold 7,161,561 copies.
It is not the world's best selling magazine, National Geographic for example is published in 23 languages, with a total circulation of approximately 9.5 million copies per month, 8 million of which are subscribers.
I dont know about playboy but i think readers digest is the leader in world circulation.
I believe Warren Farrel's book "Why Men Are the Way They Are" points out that "Brides" magazine has the highest circulation on Earth, and that there are more Harlequin romances in print than even the Holy Bible.
He was, I believe, trying to make the point that "female pornograpy" is MUCH more widespread than male pornography.
Playboy Magazine is the largest selling "men's magazine" in the world, with a circulation of about 2.6 million a month in the U.S. The Playboy Magazine January 2004 issue marked Playboy magazine's 50th anniversary celebration.
