I don't believe in "learning to live with" anything. You can be helped with anything, IF you want to be, and put the effort into it.

There is no cure for mental illness, just treatment, but mabe one day, there will be a way to single out these genes an eliminate them from us.

I think with the proper help from therapist, medicine, help from God, and other things that it can be diminished a whole lot. It might never go away but it could go away enough for them to live with it rather than it consuming their whole lives

I gave you a plus on this question. I think it's a good one, although I do not know the answer to this one. I do not think there is a cure. I do not that God is a healer, and their is nothing impossible for Him to do. Medication on the other, I know is their best bet.

Many would have you to believe there is no cure for such. I believe in cases where there is no physical defect causing the illness that a cure may very well be possible. People with phobias have been "cured" very quickly. Of course some people need medication and therapy but if a large percentage of patients were suddenly "cured" therapists and the pharmaceutical companies would lose a lot of money. So don't look for any cures any time soon.

There is no cure, there is meds for different types of mental illness. At sometime people just will not respond to the meds given to them at long periods of time, so that person will be given a stronger dose of meds, the contradiction to that is that person will refuess thier meds do to side effects like waight gain, trimbling, and excessive sleep.
As for God it's always good to pray for those are in neeed of good healthy mind, body, and sprite but, God has put people in are lifes to help us medically.
I have seen peolpe rely on are Lord to cure thire mintal illness and just is not a good thing to see stop taking there meds and just go way down the wrong road and end up hurting themselves even worst then before.

I think that for physical ailments like a tumor that causes mental illness can be cured. Chemical imbalances, I think, can be treated but not cured.

They first have to accept that they have an illness. Then they have to want to be "cured". If they take an active control over their lives they can make it better. I don't think anyone will ever be able to cure mental illness, but they can control it.

That depends on a number of factors. Firstly, what we consider to be our definition of mental illness - rather than mental difference. Some people behave oddly to the majority but don't do harm, are not unhappy any more than the rest of us etc yet may fall into the catagory of mentally ill.

Depression is probably among the most common of mental health problems and that can be treated and cured in a lot of cases, although sometimes it can be a lifelong problem. I know at least one person who I would describe as a lifelong depressive, poor fella.

There are other illness which rely on the determined use of medication and other treatments in order to be controlled or cured. Unfortunately the nature of some mental health problems is that the sick person doesn't even realise they are unwell and need the medication.

I think that we all have differences to larger or lesser degree, some are physical, some mental and yes we do have to learn to live or cope with the effects of them, sometimes even after we are cured.

I don't think you are ever cured. My sister in law is a clinical paranoid schizophrenic. She will never be cured and will be taking medication for the rest of her life. She has been taught how to manage her illness, but still has relapses every few years.

There are treatments but I don't believe it can be cured, just abated. There are genetic as well as physical factors in play. Trauma can cause mental illness. You can't undo that. Like a heart attack, the damage is done even if you manage to fix the problem.

We know so little about the mind. At this point I do not feel we are even close to reversing damage. Stem cells hold promise, but no discernible immediate alleviation of the symptoms.

I'm of the belief that damage done to the body is irreversible. We can cope but never fully recover. We always lose a little piece of what we once were. Nevertheless finding better treatments or even a cure should remain a high priority.

learn to live and cure are two different things, learning to live won't make you a normal person, so I believe treatment cures the mental illness completely.
