States rights has had a number of prominent people over the times mainly from the south over times. Some of the most prominent people include:
* Thomas Jefferson and James Madison early in the history of the US;
* John C Calhoun on nullification;
* Jefferson Davis during the Civil War; and
* Strom Thurmond and George Wallace during desegration.
