  • All I know is that Steven Adler of Guns & Roses was & is one of my favorite drummers. To me the drummer is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT elements in a band. Tommy Lee has done pretty well for himself as a drummer and everyone with any brain cells knows who he is. He's not exactly starved for attention, fame, or money. I can't even begin to understand why there is a shortage of good drummers. That's one instrument I WISH I had learned to play at a very young age.
  • Because there is no glory in drumming. You are not front and center like other instruments. So less people are drawn to them. It's sad really because the drummer is so important to the band as a whole. My husband's nephew is a phenomenal drummer; but, he is also a phenomenal failure in the rest of his life. He is a junkie and spends as much time in jail as out.
  • Because drums are more expensive to buy than guitar and most drummers only have their first set as adults when they can buy their own.
  • 'Cause they're all half nuts. Jon Bonham, Ringo, the dude from the Who...From wat I understand, it's a chore to keep them alive.
