  • Yes, you can use your oven to dry fruit. Heat the oven to 140 degrees and prop the door open a little so any steam escapes. Set a fan up in front of the oven so it circulates some air through the oven. It will take from 4 to 12 hours, depending on the type of fruit and the thickness of the pieces. Check fairly often to see if it's done, rotate the trays and flip the pieces every half hour to hour for even drying. I'm assuming you know how to prepare the fruit for drying and were only asking about using the oven instead of a food dehydrater. If not - a quick and easy way to prep food so it doesn't brown is to mix 1/4 to 1/2 a bottle of lemon juice concentrate (depending on how big a batch of fruit you're drying) with a few quarts of water, then dipping each piece in before it goes in the oven.
