I am an untrained 14 year old male singer and I have a range of 3 octaves. Is this a broad range for a singer my age?

I don't know, but what I want to say is I am a 12 year old female untrained singer, and I also have a range of 3 octaves and when I tell people they don't believe me, but it's true. I believe with enough work, nearly anybody can have a 3 octave range. But why listen to a 12 year old girl, right?

IF you have a 3 octave range then you should be very thankful. Some people have it naturally but I very much doubt that you have 3 octaves range at least not singable notes. if you have a music teacher or anything like that check it out because 3 octaves just won't come really... Also before you go through your voice change (from a kid voice to an adult voice) you might have a very wide range. This will change though so if you havnt gone through your voice change you cant really measure the range because it will be very different once you do go through it. Another question... Is this full voice or is it falsetto. With other words: Can you slide from your lowest note to your highest without breaking?

I believe you. I am a 27 yr old girl and when I was 14-17 I am fairly sure I had a 3 octave range. Never had any training of any kind, but I actually think that if you don't limit yourself in your mind about how many notes you're SUPPOSED to be able to sing, you can really do pretty much anything (to an extent) with practice and natural talent. My friend, when I said back when we were 16 that I could sing the last note in Phantom of the Opera, said no that's impossible. Even if I were trained it'd be almost impossible, but I could do it! I can't NOW. I can only squeak it with a LOT of air, but back then I could. I stretched my range by singing along with various songs I liked at the time. When I was 13 and first started singing regularly (like, 1-3 hours every day just cause I wanted to) I found it hard to sing even 1-2 octaves, but then...yeah. *shrug* I stretched it gradually. Good for you, I say! Dont let anyone deny you anything.
