Help answer this question below.
None, thanks. I'll be responsible for my own safety. I gotta side with Ben on this one.
freedom is our most natural right, i wouldnt trade it for anything.
Zero. I wouldn't trust this government with my toilet water, let alone my safety.
No deal here either... Very timely and very relevant question.
NONE
Liberty...Safety...Liberty...Safety...damn, I'm torn. Safety, when diagnosed closely, is a false sense of security. The broker on the 26th floor, his customer asks, why are you officing here? No one likes to come down town. Who is this company you give half your commission to? I don't do business with them, I do business with you and I aint never going to your office.
Take Freedom every time.
I've familiar with that quotation. I used to be a hard-core Libertarian. But in recent years, after being tossed out like so much trash several times by corporate executives when their "risks" didn't pan out the way they expected, well, I think a safety net for the "wage slaves" of the world, who don't have a "golden parachute" on their backs, isn't unreasonable.
Take them all away, I can't handle all of this freedom and responsibility. Please, for the love of God, enslave me. I just want to be safe from all the baddies!
*removes tongue from cheek
None of it.
I've been yelling about this for decades. Nanny governments are intrusive on our individual rights. Our most fundamental right is the right to FAIL. Without it, we are slaves, whether we recognize it or not.
NOT ONE PERIOD, and that is hoax that is and has been played for far too long by one party after another pitting one freedom against another while they line there pockets with the fearmongering and you really need to look at just who is telling you these things and question them seriously as the enemy is not "OVER THERE" it's right here hiding within this government as well as it's businesses as well as on every street corner and it has been for too long ...
it's a package deal it always was and freedom first begin with the individual, groups of individuals and the governments of individuals but when you gut the key stone founding priciples, when you make criminals citizens and citizens the criminals and then rob cheat and steal from them under the banner of National Security that's NOT freedom that's fraud and the clock is ticking becuase your kind of Democracy is a fraud and my country will be better off without it and the criminals behind this sham ..

"public safety" will be brought up in the mass media very soon & our constitutional rights will be eroded. All in the name of "safety."
Any takers on that or shall we stand up as Americans & hold our elected leaders accountable?
Well, celebrities do it everyday. So, if I could have their life, so be it.
I am not willing to sacrifice freedom for safety, I will keep myself safe.
None. I provide my own safety. I don't trust the government to do that, not with Bozo Obama as the president.
just the one, they can spy all they want to keep us safe...but thats it...no other freedom would i give up....but the gov. ain't asking , they're just taking...
I would be willing to give up my 2nd amendment rights to bear arms if a jury of "Power Citizens" (a group of 12 everyday citizens) was enabled to call for new elections at anytime against an administration that used their sole possession of arms illegally against its citizens.
I'm willing to outlaw hate groups that are operating in every state of the U.S.
many are aligned with other countries who are against us.
I speak the language of those around me, wear similar clothing, and stay mostly in line with various arbitrary rules that have come about through de facto processes, and not by anything scientific or logical.
I make concessions for those I live with, frequently hold my tongue to keep the peace with friends, and will eventually work in a job where at least some of my timing will be controlled by others.
I think it's ridiculous to argue that anyone doesn't give up freedom for safety. That's what society is.
Benjamin Franklina's statement is true: who will prefer safety to freedom, will not have neither freedom, nor safety? Undoubtedly. Thanks.
I would sacrifice very little freedom and would have to be in a seriously nasty situation...and this is one of my favorite saying btw
After 8 years of Republican Fascism, I'm surprised I've any left.
None.
I think I could stand for temporarily suspending the constitution while law enforcement went around and annihilated street gangs. Then, when that was taken care of, outlaw motorcycle gangs.
The key point is the "Temporary". To give up essential liberty for equally essential safety is the fundamental decision that makes civilization possible. Absolute freedom is the ideology of the anarchic-terrorist and serial killer. The question is not "Do I give up my freedom?" but "How much?", and "What am I getting in exchange?".
That said, beyond the basics of law enforcement, fire suppression, medical service, and protection from the dangers of crop failures, slavery and exploitation, or economic collapse the costs are usually not worth it. Also I must point out that the government is not fulfilling those functions very well.

You're reading "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" - Ben Franklin. How much freedom are you willing to sacrifice for your safety?

oh , yeah...do u say that now...what about America's freedoms after 9/11/? it ain't all about u dude...its our country...
by thatsJustme on May 27th, 2009
The Patriot Act hasn't gotten us one inch closer to getting bin Ladin. We started a war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. None of the domestic wiretaps have nabbed us any terrorists that have been put on trial.
9/11 was one of the most f*cked days in this country's history, but the administration lost it's cool and decided to turn that tragedy to it's own advantage for profit instead of finding the bastard who pulled the trigger.

thats ur opinion , there are just as many that disagree ....they are still lookin for the bastard......those wiretaps are needed event til now....in case u dont understand , they are still here and will continue to be...when they hit next, maybe you will T"HINK....
