No ,I think it would add to unnecessary paranoia.
-
Why? The people bringing guns in always find a way to get past anyway. There's some money that would be best directed elsewhere.

My answer is a vehement NO on two grounds: 1) Would this even be practical? Go to your nearest university campus and see how many "entrances" it has. You'd have to build an awful lot of fencing to reduce entrances to a manageable number. 2) Once all that fencing was built, would you want to live in such a world? A world where going to a school was like going into a prison? I wouldn't... I know tragedies like Virginia Tech and Columbine make us seek ways to prevent such things from reoccurring, but for some of society's ills, the cure would be worse than the disease.
-
No that would be extremely expensive in staff and equipment costs. The logistics of such a thing would be too huge. Also, who would search teenagers? People would get accused of all sorts of perversion for doing so. Anyone carrying a weapon could probably threaten their way into the building regardless, if they wanted to.
-
No because some schools dont have enough money to buy all this expensive equipment... think of the very small schools around the world... but if you think that the school reaqlly needs them then maybe some schools should
-
No. Not only would it cost a lot of money for having a metal detector at every entrance of the building, but they would also need to hire people to stand around check each person as they go through. But I do think high schools should have security guards around...

After what I saw in Virigina on the news - YES
-
Do you know how ridiculously complicated that would get on college campus's? What about the first death that happened today at Virgina Tech, that happened at a dorm... so its 2 in the morning and your coming in after a late night and you have to go through a metal detector before you can go to bed?

In USA - YES!

No quite the opposite I believe they just need to teach more things at younger ages about guns and knives and the safety procedures for the handling of such weapons and the legal issues involved. I went to a summer camp in 7th and 8th grade and at that camp all attendees were required to have a pocket knife. not once in the history of the camp has there been violence involving one of those knives. also guns and bows and arrows were taught to all ages. safety always came first and a little bit of morality study didn’t hurt at all. Not only that the amount of money it would take out of the public treasury to accomplish such a task would be incredible. the time wasting opportunities for students would be through the roof. it would be so easy to cram your pockets full of perfectly innocent metal objects just so you would have an excuse to be searched for 15 minutes and miss part of class and hold up the rest of the people in the school. if you've ever been to an airport you may remember what happens at the metal detector. waiting, waiting and more waiting. in a school with 1000 plus kids going in and out the doors all the time it would be such a waste of time money and effort. not to mention the man power needed to search all the people who didn’t pass the test to enter the door. I took so many things to school that had metal in them. binders, change, electronics of all sorts and any random item I was fiddling with and then pocketed before leaving home. The violence in schools has never been zero but every decade it gets worse and worse. What we need to focus on are some real solutions to the problem such as hiring better teachers especially in the lower grades and work some morals and standards into the curriculum that are widely accepted by the rest of the world. such as be nice to people and don’t kill them. simple things like that that might be taught in private schools but because of the terrible fear of religion aren’t taught in public schools. whether god exists or not it hardly matters; killing and raping and stealing and the such are all wrong not to mention illegal. That’s my opinion. if all the metal detectors were to be free of charge from the factory it still would be a bad idea. not to mention the whole invasion of privacy. but you must remember people who fly places choose to do so and people in school don’t choose to do so. if the metal detectors were to be used in any school I would say only in universities because the university could pay for it themselves and college is optional.

I think that it is a great idea. It's not going to hurt anyone by having them there and it will definately make a student think twice about bringing something harmful into school.
-
I think yes, now why; just because in states like virginia and others states where you can buy a gun even in walmart.I think will be necesary, to protect our childrens.
-
No. It's not practical, extremely expensive. And it wouldn't really solve the problem I don't think. Campuses have large open areas. A shooter could still kill a lot of people out in a crowded campus center.
