I think homework is an essential part of learning anything. If you don't practice/revise things in your own time after being taught it, you won't be able to recall it as well later on.
I know there were some studies done that said the opposite but I can't take them seriously. If I did no homework in highschool I would have crashed, burnt and failed.
Homework is something you just need to grin and bare.
