Look back to 1994 when Mr. Clinton decided to reduce the number of US troop in the UN contingency in Rwanda, before the Hutus massacred over 800,000 Tutsis. (Mostly with machetes) The Rwandans had to rely on themselves, and some Belgian and South African Mercenary units (among others)to defeat the empowered Hutu. The word "Genocide" was carefully tiptoed around and never officially used. We, as world citizens should still be ashamed of ourselves.

As far as the media goes, Northern Uganda does not make good "news", as it doesn't have the political flavor or sensationalism of something the media thinks could be turned into a scandal of some sort. Iraq/governmental policy bashing sells more newspaper than unchecked suffering in a "poor" country who is just having a little lovers spat. (that last comment was riddled with sarcasm, by the way)...

The media should be ashamed as well.

There's no precious commodity like oil to fight for and because Western society is inherently racist and the lives of oppressed black minority Sudanese are not as important as the lives of oppressed white Near Eastern Iraqis. This is the sad state of society in which we live.
