Okay, dear. Do you have a question though? I know that condition is usually harmless and that it doesn't shorten your life.

I'm not sure what your question is. My wife has that exact condition and she is just fine. She learned about it when she was 15 and she is now 56. We have two children and the heart condition created no complications with the births. She hikes with me in the mountains, sails with me, plays good tennis and is always moving it seems. Just follow your doctor's orders and look forward to living a normal life.

I am no doctor. Be sure to follow your doctor's advice.

I don't know exactly which problem that is, but you should be under the care of a cardiologist. Talk to him and understand what he will tell you. The good news is that handling heart problems is highly advanced, and it might be a simple surgical procedure to fix the problem. They can go into the heart from the vein in your groin, make the ablations (cut nerves in the right place on the heart) to stop the irregular beats. You can be in and out of the hospital in about 3 or 4 days, doesn't hurt, and is actually pretty easy considering it is your heart. And, if it can be corrected by surgery, you might not have to take any medication. Anyway, get with one of the great hospitals, one that is associated with a medical school where they do the more advanced work. The DeBakey heart department at Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas may be the best.

MVP is pretty common, and also pretty harmless, so try not to worry about it ... and I'd like to point out that your heart doesn't really "skip a beat" ... what happens is you have a normal beat, then the next one comes early, there is a pause while the heart resets itself, and then the next one comes in at it's normal time ... it's that pause in there that feels like a skip ... think of it this way:

    beat .......... beat .......... beat
    beat .... beat ................ beat

either way, you still have 3 beats over the same time period

I have it too. It was caused by having Strep Throat and running a very high fever. I survived it and you probably will too.
