Who holds the record for allowing the most homeruns in a single season?

  • According to the info here - http://www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/home_runs_allowed_records.shtml - the record is held by Bert Blyleven with 50 in the 1986 season for Minnesota. The fact that he has been on the Hall of Fame ballot several times goes to show that this is not a particularly accurate measure of how good or bad a pitcher is... you have to throw a lot of innings to get hit for a lot of home runs!

    Burt Blyleven gave up 50 home runs in the 1986 season pitching for the Minnesota Twins.
